Fallen ~ Lauren Kate Some Angels are destined to fall.
Instant. Intense. Weirdly familiar…
The moment Luce looks at Daniel she knows she has never felt like this before.
Except she can’t shake the feeling that she has…and with him – a boy she doesn’t remember ever setting eyes on.
Will he attempt to find out why enlighten her
-or destroy her?
Dangerously exciting and darkly romantic,
Fallen is a thrilling story about forbidden love.

First Impression: So I’d been looking for yet another Vampire book when I came across Fallen. I had no idea it had only been out a few days and the cover invited me in to look closer. Upon reading the information on the back cover I needed to read more.
Cover: I love the cover. Simple as that, it drew me in and the books awesomeness made me buy it. I’ve always been told to never judge a book by its cover but seeing the cover of this book made me need to buy it. The dark colours, for some reason, pulled me in more then the brightly lit covers of other books around it. It looked mysterious and I wanted…needed to know more.
Characters: The characters are amazing. The main, Luce Price, is brilliant. She’s one of my new favourite characters ever; she’s intelligent and pretty and copes though she’s out of her depth. Daniel…where do I start, he’s mysterious and gorgeous. He holds his cards close to his chest although he loosens up a little during the course of the books. Cam, the second gorgeous guy fighting for Luce’s affection, he’s mysterious yet open at the same time. And then there’s Arriane, for some reason she reminds me of a pixie, she’s nice if she likes you, but personally I wouldn’t cross her path.
Writing Style: Lauren Kate’s writing style is different from most I’ve read before. She’s writing from the point of view of 17 year old girl. Not the easiest point of view to write from, but I believe she pulls it off. The language she uses is young enough for teenagers to relate to but old enough to move the story to the young adult reading age. Lauren has captured the thoughts and feelings of the older teenager well.
Plot: Basically I love it. The plot held me; I couldn’t put it down. Fallen is definitely the type of book that you pick up for a quick 10 minutes of reading and look up from two hours later without realising where the time’s gone. The plot is un-guessable to the reader and I was left surprised by the end of the story. The story twists un-expectantly when characters you wouldn’t suspect turn.
Likes/Dislikes: Overall I loved this book. I will definitely read it again at some point in the future and will be recommending it to everyone who’ll listen.
I had no dislikes.
Rating: Overall I would give Fallen a total rating of *****
It’s one of my new favourite books and I cannot wait until September 2010 for Torment.
